Flight of Purpose: From a Drone Enthusiast to a Global Changemaker

“As human beings, we have this desire to be significant, to live to our fullest potential and have an impact in the world,” reflects George on his journey with Zimbabwe Flying Labs, which has not only elevated his professional standing but also given him a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

A couple of years ago, George's world was far different from what it is today. Before he became part of the Flying Labs Network, he could not have imagined the incredible journey that awaited him. Today, he reflects on his evolution from a mere drone enthusiast to someone who is making a difference in the world.

As he became immersed in the Flying Labs Network, he experienced a remarkable transformation. His professional growth skyrocketed as he acquired new skills like data processing and photogrammetry. He established global connections and formed relationships with people from all corners of the world.

A highlight of George's journey is his involvement in STEM programs, where he introduces children to the world of drones and technology. George sees himself as a mentor empowering young minds to explore opportunities that were once beyond their imagination. By sharing his knowledge and experience, he guides the younger generation toward potential career paths in the drone industry.  

George's most memorable experiences come to life during the annual Flying Lab's retreat. While the majority of interactions in the Network are virtual, this annual event brings the community together physically. “Even the ideas that come out of those retreats are on another level,” he says, emphasizing how the retreats foster an environment of collaboration, co-creation and innovation.
