First Ever Drone Pilot Training for East African Region
May 8th, 2017
We are hosting our first ever East African regional training on aerial robotics this month. Entitled “Drone Pilot Training for Social Good”, this professional and hands-on 3-day course offered by our Tanzania Flying Labs will train participants on how to used fixed-wing and rotary-wing drones for a range of humanitarian and environmental projects. Participants will be trained on how to use this technology safely, responsibly and effectively in socially-sensitive contexts. In addition, participants will receive training on how to process aerial imagery and produce information products to support decision making. The training will take place in Zanzibar and is specifically geared towards participants from East Africa.
Applications have been open since March and the response has exceeded our expectations: over 60 individuals have applied from dozens of countries including India, Swaziland, South Africa, Rwanda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Zimbabwe.
In order to ensure high quality hands-on education, the number of spots for the training is limited, but we plan to increase the amount of training programs across our Flying Labs in the near future. Follow us on social media or join our Google Group for news on future training events!
