Emerging Technologies, Shared Responsibility: Bridging Innovation and Regulation

Collaboration between local experts and government is an integral part of creating lasting social change.
We contribute to inclusive and adaptive regulatory environments for safe, ethical, and locally grounded use of technology.
Even when solutions are effective, their impact can be limited by policies and regulations that are outdated or disconnected from how technology is used, and evolves, in practice.
Regulations and policies for emerging technologies are mainly shaped and influenced by international recommendations, global tech industry interests, or external actors. And often miss locally relevant data and input from local experts who understand how technologies are actually used daily.
As a consequence, rules are difficult to apply in practice, inconsistently enforced, or informally bypassed, undermining both effectiveness and legitimacy.
International recommendations and high-level strategic discussions on harmonization are ongoing. However, most regulators still miss practical solutions on how to integrate them into their local realities. They also lack relevant local data and insights on how drones are used in the country, how they can provide value for the local economy and social issues, what key challenges the actors of the local drone ecosystem face and solutions they propose. Such data and local insights are however crucial to craft and update fitting drone regulations, policies and technical guidance material that will be adopted by local drone operators.
An example for drone regulations
We support technology regulators with a practical and proven framework that brings together the insights of local technology actors with global insights and best practices.
We host trusted discussion spaces between regulators and local experts and contribute to regional and global working groups. Together, we publish thought pieces that advocate for locally-relevant regulations and safe, equitable and responsible use of technology.
This helps ensure that regulations are credible, practical, and aligned with public interest goals.
