Collaboration Background

In 2024, Flying Labs and WeRobotics launched a series of sector expertise hubs, virtual collaboration spaces, bringing together a sector experts from Flying Labs and WeRobotics. The Flying Labs CAA hub focuses on engagement for local, national, and international drone policy improvements.

Hub members volunteer to join these collaboration spaces and bring in their expertise, interest and passion for supporting CAAs locally and regionally to improve and expand locally-led, bottom-up drone policy and regulation initiatives in Africa, Latin America and Asia/Pacific.

Goal of the CAA Hub

The goal of this collaboration space is to:

  • Learn from each other on ways of engaging with and supporting Civil Aviation Authorities to help inform drone regulations and promote safe and responsible drone operations;
  • Build on each other's existing expertise in drone policy and regulations engagement and improvement;
  • Use, improve and expand existing frameworks;
  • Create new joint resources and share best practices;
  • Explore joint projects, CAA collaborations and fundraising opportunities as a consortium

What's Next & How You Can Get Involved

The hub members meet on a regular basis for continued sharing of learnings, best practices and expertises. Hub members are interested in co-creating public resources such as white papers and replicable frameworks to support Civil Aviation Authorities in their countries for wide adoption of existing regulations and policies. Hub members also would like to participate more actively in events and conferences to share the joint knowledge and expertise co-created through this collaboration space.

None of the hub's current work has been funded. Reason why we are actively fundraising to support the work of this collaboration space that brings together unique expertise.

Support our efforts for safe and responsible drone use and widely adopted regulations and policies. Contribute with your expertise or financial support.
