Co-creating Solutions with Local Communities: Lessons from Flying Labs
Local Experts | November 2025
Through our Turning Data Into Action methodology, Flying Labs place stakeholders at the center of solution design and implementation.
We co-create, grow and facilitate networks of local experts who lead technology solutions for social good in their communities.
Many technology-driven initiatives struggle to achieve lasting impact because they rely heavily on external expertise, short-term project teams, or individual champions rather than sustained local capacity. This often results in solutions that are poorly adapted to context, weakly embedded in local systems, and difficult to sustain once external support ends.
While local expertise exists, it is often fragmented across geographies, insufficiently visible, and not connected.
We build and facilitate global networks that connect local experts across geographies and technologies. Being part of a global network amplifies collective learning, legitimacy, visibility, and influence across local, national, and global levels. And enables locally led efforts to scale and endure over time.
Who Are the Networks For? Local companies, civil society organizations, government entities, academic and research entities who want to decide on and lead Tech4Good localization in their countries and communities.
Our Value Proposition to the Networks. Being part of a global network offers local experts connection to like-minded peers, visibility on a local and global level, and a trusted space for shared learning and collaboration. It also opens access to technology, proven resources, and new opportunities, so a solution developed in one place can be adapted and replicated in others.
Our Role. We act as the networks’ steward. Key activities include network administration and facilitation, support with MEL, strategy, sustainability, documentation and storytelling expertise, co-creation of methodologies, frameworks and programs, and kick-starting and coordinating solution spaces together with network members. How are the networks we steward different? The networks are powered by our Glocalization Model. The model sets the direction of our work: local to global back to local. And it provides the needed infrastructures to define value propositions, roles, relationships and governance.
