That’s what we are doing through The Power of Local Podcast. From personal journeys to impact stories, discover how local technology experts in Africa, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean are using drones, data, and AI to tackle real challenges in their communities and shape the future.
When Diana from Zimbabwe Flying Labs first got her hands on a small toy drone in 2016, she had no idea how far it would take her, or how many lives she would impact along the way. What began as a few playful minutes before the drone crashed has grown into a passionate career — building local capacity, training professional pilots, and inspiring young people across Africa to embrace STEM and drone technology.
In the inaugural podcast episode, Diana shares her journey, Zimbabwe Flying Labs’ most impactful projects, and her dreams for building local solutions for local challenges in the future.
“Our tagline is ‘Transforming the future of work’. The future is now, and we want to build capacity locally for young people, especially in STEM fields. We can also build our own solutions. Yes, we have different manufacturers, but the capacity is also here for us to come up with our own solutions for our country.”
