Why Storytelling is essential to our work

Storytelling enables mindsets and narratives shifts. These shifts support the needed change in how technology, power, and leadership are understood. By making locally led practice visible, credible, and compelling, storytelling helps shift dominant narratives away from technology-first, top-down models toward approaches that value local leadership, shared accountability, and people-centered integration of technology. Over time, this contributes to increased legitimacy and recognition of locally led approaches as credible and effective alternatives.

Our Storytelling practice

We have always put an important focus on documenting and sharing the work of the local experts of our network, and our own work. In our first 10 years, we have published over 1,100 resources. 

Since 2023, we have a dedicated storytelling team that makes up 20% of our team, and turns activities, experiences and learnings into articles for the WeRobotics blog and Flying Labs blog, videos, podcasts, newsletters, and reports.

Storytelling is also an integral part of our MEL strategy and way we measure our impact, for example by using methods such as "Most Significant Change".
