Two Flying Labs Named as Finalists in AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards
June 4th, 2020
We are pleased to share that not one but two (!) Flying Labs are finalists in the Humanitarian category of the AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards!
Dominican Republic Flying Labs was selected thanks to a joint project we carried out with Pfizer. The project's purpose was to customize an affordable and locally-operated cargo drone to deliver essential medicines to remote health facilities in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. Watch the video below to learn more. Dominican Republic Flying Labs is kindly hosted and coordinated by the Centro de Innovación de Drones.
Nepal Flying Labs was also selected thanks to a joint project we carried out with BNMT and other key partners. The project's purpose was to customize an affordable and locally operated cargo drone to collect patient samples from remote health facilities for rapid TB testing. Watch the video below to learn more. Nepal Flying Labs is kindly hosted and coordinated by NAXA.
Congratulations to both Dominican and Nepal Flying Labs for this great recognition and for being the only non-Western finalists in AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards' humanitarian category. We also congratulate the other finalists, including cargo drone companies from Europe and Australia, a drone testing site in the U.S., and an American NGO.
We look forward to following the award ceremonies in October 2020 when the winners will be announced.
In the meantime, if you're interested to learn more about the cargo drone projects above, then check out our online training on the use of delivery drones for public health. Certificates of completion for this peer-reviewed, professional training are signed by WeRobotics, Direct Relief, MIT and the University of Pennsylvania.
