Shaping Safer Skies with WeRobotics and the Flying Labs Drone Regulations Engagement Framework
January 21st, 2025
In August 2024, WeRobotics and Kenya Flying Labs organised a co-creation workshop series, where diverse industry stakeholders gathered to discuss the regulatory challenges they faced and recommend viable solutions. The workshop series represented the first replication of the Flying Labs Drone Regulations Engagement Framework, co-designed by WeRobotics, Namibia Flying Labs, and Deloitte D2international in 2023. In the video below, workshop participants and a representative of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) share the impact of our framework and the outcomes it creates in terms of deeper engagement between drone users on the ground and regulators. It paints a picture of what WeRobotics and Flying Labs hope to achieve through our work in CAA engagement.

With locally relevant data co-created with users on the ground, regulations for emerging technologies such as drones can become more informed, relevant, and fitting to the country’s context. This, in turn, creates pathways to fully realise the social and commercial impact that drones can create in the Global South. We invite regulators to connect with us on humans@werobotics.org for a conversation on how we can make this step forward together.
