Margarita Múnera is a multicultural, bilingual legal counsel with over 30 years of experience, currently serving as the General Counsel for Latin America at Clarios, Board Member at WeRobotics, Industria Nacional de Autopartes A.C. (INA), and at the Mexico Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). She leads a dynamic and engaged legal team, providing strategic guidance that ensures operational and business projects thrive while adhering to proper governance.
Margarita excels in combining contextual analysis with innovative solutions and efficient execution, understanding business imperatives, and providing clarity to leaders in complex situations. She is passionate about innovation, team development, and simplification, constantly seeking novel ways to generate impact and to challenge her team to grow and succeed.
In addition to her legal responsibilities, Margarita supports sustainability programs and champions inclusion and diversity. She is a sponsor of Clarios’ Mexico Women’s Network, advocating for women's empowerment; she also volunteers to mentor other leaders.
Her career began in leading Colombian law firms, specializing in Commercial and International Trade Law. She transitioned to in-house roles within global corporations, spanning the Telecommunications, Building Technology, and Automotive sectors across the Andean Region, Mexico, Central America, and Latin America. Since 2019, she has been the General Counsel for LATAM at Clarios, the world’s largest automotive battery company, where she enjoys strategic partnering with the business and leading a best-in-class legal team. Margarita is a global citizen, having lived in Colombia, Belgium, and Mexico, and thrives in multi-cultural environments.
She holds a Masters in Law (LLM) in International Commercial Law by the University of Leuven, Belgium; a Commercial Law Specialization and JD degrees by the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana at Medellín, Colombia, and has participated in multiple leadership programs, including the IPADE School of Business Program for Directors, D1. She completed the Board Empowerment program and is currently pursuing the Directorship Certification by the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Margarita’s legal education and experience supporting international companies in Latin America equips her with a deep understanding of regional and cross-border legal complexities, global business dynamics, and a strong grasp of domestic legal frameworks and practical legal skills.
