Building Together: The Value of the Global Connection
March 19th, 2025

Co-creating solutions for localization and shifting power also means rethinking hierarchy and organizational structures. From the inception of our Glocalization Model, we made a deliberate choice: to give the “local expertise” component a distinct identity, making it clear that Flying Labs operate independently from WeRobotics.
Our two brands—WeRobotics and the Flying Labs Network—are united by core values and elements. A joint vision rooted in the Power of Local. Our passion for creating positive social impact with the support of emerging technologies such as drones, data, and AI. Our love for open sharing and collaboration. While we are separate entities, we are deeply connected in our mission to amplify local expertise as the solution to the pressing challenges that affect us all. This way, we make space for independence and interdependence, allowing us to bridge local action with a global perspective.
By working together, we strengthen one another. Both local and global organizations bring unique value to the table, and through collaboration that redistributes power, each can fully leverage its strengths and both can create lasting impact at scale together.
Our collaboration with the Flying Labs Network is an evolving journey—one that challenges us to continually learn what this role means in practice. What does it take to support a growing global network of local experts? How do we measure the impact of coordination, facilitation and the behind-the-scenes work that supports local experts to conduct their activities, share knowledge, and collaborate on solutions for their communities?
The core of our work is stewardship: understanding what Flying Labs need, how best to support them, and how to co-design and package frameworks that can scale across the Network and be adapted and replicated across diverse contexts. But how do we determine what works? How do we define impact in this work? What efforts matter most, and what holds the greatest value?
One of the most important ways we explore what impact means for us is by actively listening to the local experts of the Network. We do this in conversation with individual Flying Labs, such as during annual license renewal discussions, and more collectively as well during our global and regional retreats.
In the video below, hear directly from Flying Labs what value WeRobotics brings to their work—the tangible impact of stewardship.
