RaaS Business Incubation Program
With the introduction of drone mapping technology five years ago, a large number of new small business ventures have since been created worldwide, tackling a variety of issues that were either addressed by very costly and difficult-to-deploy technology or had no solution. Developing countries are facing many of these issues, due to natural disasters, infrastructure, development, agriculture and nature conservation as well as challenges related to climate change, creating local market needs where drone technology can provide solutions.
In partnership with our Flying Labs Flying Labs and local partners (Business Incubators, Technology and Engineering Associations, we are hosting “Drones as a Service” Business Incubation Programs on how to leverage technical skills and readily available drone mapping hard- and software to create drone-related service business in developing countries and build up local markets.
Our program includes following 4 phases and lasts approximately 4 months:
A call for business ideas over 2 months where teams of 3-4 people present how they will leverage drone mapping technology as a “Drone-as-a-Service” company. Four finalist teams are chosen by a local panel of judges to close off this first phase.
A five-day business development seminar, given by international business development experts, is held in-country. During this week, the 4 finalist teams will learn how to turn their ideas into a solid business plan.
During this phase, each of the 4 teams will receive local mentorship and a cash price to iterate on and validate their business plan, to be ready for the Final Competition.
In this Final competition, a jury made up of local and international experts will elect the winning team based on their business plan and video pitch. The winning team receives a business incubation fund that will allow to kick-start the team’s business.
We have organized such programs in Nepal and Tanzania and plan on future programs in all of our Flying Labs.
